Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Problem gambling often is defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others rather...
i live in NY - have two casinos close, my last best was 30 days ago, i went to vegas for work, lost so much, i'm happier than i've ever been, my mind is very clear on this disease and i like my mornings and life so much more than a slot machine can offer....it took 10 years, but i learned, never ever ever too late..
We have so many varied triggers that can cause us to get right back out there, so try and eliminate as many of those connections as you can.
I think that most of us have that one type of gambling that brings us to the brink and here, for that matter, but all the others just keep the juices flowing so to speak.
For me it was casinos at first, then horse racing. I also did office pools and lottery, friendly poker games, etc.- I had to stop them all or it can cause a sense that I have control over my gambling and then it becomes a slippery slope- It can get you when you least expect it.
I'd say games would be OK, but not gambling type games, but really I think it's a type of thing where you get that familiar adrenaline rush or thrill that we know so well- if you get that, I'd stop whatever the game may be. With FB, you can delete the posts and tell them that you don't want to see that banner or posts from whatever company is posting, that might help out.
Hang in there, it gets better.

I do not believe in total withdraw because in my opinion, it is not necessarily the best outcome I would like to see in myself. Clear at knowing what and who I am without being extreme the one way or the other. I posses addictive, compulsive personality, so for that reason I over do anything of interes, just dont know when to quit.
I don't do any gambling in the form of physical betting like slots, blackjack etc., anymore but I do gamble on a daily basis just living the life. Like, i gamble on how my work team is going to pull out on some contest, I gamble on betting myself on a close parking space at grocery stores etc, lol.
Life is full of gamble but what and how I choose to gamble took me to a genuine level of honor, dignity and humility that I once lost.
Cease the moment, one day at a time!
Love,
Victoria
