My recovery reminds me of when I took my real estate brokers exam. I remember taking it the 1st time, I didn't pass it, and I thought, OMG, this test is a test to be respected, it was so hard. The last time I took it, I buckled down and studied my butt off, I had the help of my friends and family, my sister and daughter were relentless in making me study as they sat with me during some very late nights and quizzed me, over and over again, When I passed, I opened the sealed envelope out by my car, and just read the first line, CONGRATULATIONS you are now a licensed real estate broker... that is all I saw, before I started shaking and crying like a baby.
I celebrated by going out and buying my sister and daughter new bags, and gifted them that same night with the box and a huge thank you. My point is, with my addiction, although I hate it, its an addiction to be "respected." Its harder than anyone, other than another CG can even begin to imagine to stop, at least for me. I am in my recovery, I am standing next to my car, as I open the envelope and I'm crying, because I am grateful for finally understanding, that anything worth having, is worth working for.
I raised my daughter alone, with no help from anyone, I respected and loved that challenge. I graduated from high school after moving 9 times and being told I didn't have enough credits to graduate, I went to night school and I worked my ass off, and I graduated, another challenge. I cleaned up my credit after a terrible marriage and I finally bought my own home, that was a huge challenge, but I did it.
I intend to work for my recovery, although its an addiction that is difficult, cunning, and powerful, I am a strong woman, with the drive, the will, the friends and family that will support me and love me, no matter what. I am recovering from an addiction that although I hate, is to be respected for its challenges, and I am respecting it. But, I am not surrendering to it, not today. I pray, not tomorrow.

S-tay A-way F-rom T-he F-%$#&^% C-asino! I don't generally swear but that place deserves a very harsh name! I'm so glad I don't have to go there anymore. It became like a horrible job to me and It was hard work! I never got paid either, I had to pay them to work there! 'I am so glad I can say I QUIT!
