All too often we wallow in negativity over our addiction. At least I know I do. Sometimes I sit and think about how much money I fed the slot machines and what I could have, should have done with it instead. When I get caught up in that my addiction is still beating me.
I just returned from a week in Mexico. I took my three daughters and the four of us went down. While there they had a Casino night where they brought in a roulette table, black jack and so on. They gave everyone play money and then they had real money games also. My daughters asked if I was going to join them. It would have been so easy to justify my addiction because after all it is play money right? Wrong, instead, I had a drink and curled up with my Kindle. Today instead of beating myself up over the negative I celebrate the successes.

My success story is one of simple pleasures. I love not stressing over "insufficient funds" alerts coming over my emails. I love not having to lie about my whereabouts. I love having the money to pay necessary bills, and having some extra money left over to buy the little things. I love the freedom of not being in the grips of compulsion. I love being able to spend time with my family and friends instead of spending time and money at the casino. I love my clear mind. I don't ever want to go back to where I was.
I like me again. I didn't like myself at all a couple of months ago.
Life is good again. I want to shout it from the rooftops. I want everyone who has ever had this rabid monkey on their back to feel how wonderful it is to cast it off and live life again.
Time and money, no longer lost to me and my family. That is my success story :)
