For me, my life line to my recovery, other than, the most important part, is I wanted to stop, was to exclude myself from the local stomping grounds I went to. I can drive over an hour or so away, if I really wanted too, but as they say, my drug of choice were three local casinos, and I did a lifetime ban. I believe in CA once you do a lifetime ban, it covers all of the watering holes, in CA.
Nonetheless, lifetime bans, excluding, blogging, reaching out to others, meetings, when I can, and of course steps, combined, are what my recovery is made up of. I truly believe that if I had not stopped when I did, I would have lost my home, my family, my dignity and self respect.
Take advantage of the tools you have right in front of you. I fought it for a long time, too long. Lifetime ban, that is the option I picked, there were other options, 30 days, 60, 90, a year, 3 years. What is the point? I did one a few years ago for one year, and once the year was up, I was right back, and they greeted me with open arms.
Best advise I can give anyone and best advise I received.

we know its all a bunch of bullshit, i didnt ban, i just moved far enough away but guess what, i just read in the paper...and i cant F*(&&*& believe it, they are putting a casion 2 exits away from me, 2015/2016 done date, no i can tell you like you mentioned your addiction was THOSE places, and i feel that w/my casino 40 min away that dirty disgusting place i loved to visit, im turned off too...BUT UH OH a brand new casino w/NO bad memories, SON OF B, i have to know hold down the cravings to just "check it out" i have at least a year of abstinence, before its put up, but thats why its important to do the program as well as stay away, because it could be in your living room and you still have to STOP and function in normal day life....uyyyy just another test, god speed
