Also, the title of the post- accountability- is the most important part of my recovery process. I never really had any sort of real accountability and now having it, makes life so much more meaningful.

I, too, never paid anything late during the throes of gambling but I hit rock bottom when if I went one more time that I would have been late paying bills....I stopped at the "yet" same as you. It is a great feeling to pay your bills and have some money in your wallet if you want to buy a little something for yourself. I actually got the debt reduction bug and got really into watching my credit card debt go down...it's liberating! So you go girl!!!!
:)
way to go friend!
accountability to ourselves and to others,
to the debts we owe and the money we borrowed,
I've had people say so sorry just not pay back loans,
I don't do them anymore as I just assumed others
were like me and responsible,
didn't get bad when I gambled, just way to much
residual money gone,
but it was sooooooooooooooooooooo close
and getting bad each day and it wouldn't take much
to just go crazy and forget about debt and obligations etc,
that is addiction
and the inability of our mind to want and think about nothing but
the substance we crave no matter the cost to ourselves and others
be it debt or life or crime or punishment or.................
yes,
train yourself to be accountable for your actions in this life.
yes yes.
