Don't ever feel bad because you can't white knuckle it through a certain number of days. It doesn't mean we are weak. It means we have to find another way.
I usually get money from my Dad for Christmas. I always thought of it as free money to gamble - see if I could double it. This year, I already have a plan in place that will keep that money out of my reach. Plan ahead, plan ahead, plan ahead! Use the days you are feeling strong to prepare for the weaker days that may come.
I hope we can all find a way to have a gamble free holiday season!
I don't count days per se, but I do periodically look back in my checkbook and say, oh yeah, it's been X amount of time since I last gambled...I don't wanna mess that up so I won't gamble on this particular challenging day. I like a point of reference to get me through tough times, but ultimately, I only fail when I stop trying. This disease and the recovery from it are both progressive. It truly is a learning process and experience.
Thanks for sharing your therapist's insights on this and on Leap's post...it really helps :o)
