Not too sure why I am posting this here, because maybe it's irrelevant...but I am feeling like an emotional wreck right now.

A few hours ago, I was rejected by a girl I liked in my office. It's a bit of a long story, but I just feel like I've been misled all this time.

I thought about going to the casino and just splashing all the cash I could get a hold of onto the roulette table. I like to call it financial suicide.

But I was too depressed to even do that. I was not in the mindframe to gamble.

Instead, I went into a storage room of my office, turned off the lights and tried to cry.

geees toey im sorry ya had to go threw all that. guess im glad ya did post here instead of gambling. its stuff like that that would send me off to the casino countsless times. hell if it wasnt the kids, lawyers, doctors, socail workers or the ex tossing in something ya never wanted to see or hear there was always something or someone else that would. guess there was to many points in my life where i didnt care and just wanted to throw it all away and did. sure didnt solve anything and only made things worse all the way arround. glad ya had the strenght in ya to not go that route cause it sure is a miserable one to take. yeah posting stuff like that does help in this battle cause guess it helps ya see them triggers. stay strong boy and there someone out there that deserves ya.

Hi Toey, Someone told me "nothing here is irrelevant". You know this is where you need to be. I am so sorry that happened, and yeah it might take your mind off it for a while, but in the end you would just feel so much worse. It is hare to believe right now, but this too shall pass. Cliches are cliches for a reason, mostly because they are true. Heartbreak is so cruel. Allow yourself to grieve a little for the might have beens, but then realize you have a lot to offer. When I got my heart broken I used to listen to the Bonnie Raitt song I can't make you love me. Yeah just wanted to wallow in my misery. But eventually things got better and I moved onto Believe by Cher [very empowering, check it out]. Point is I am with a wonderful person now. If it wasn't meant to be, it means you are destined for better. I totally believe this toey. Time really does heal all wounds. You are in my prayers. Love ~atticus

Thanks everyone for your kind words.

I woke up today feeling great. Why? Because I didn't go gamble. I know if I had lost $1000, that pain would've compounded on top of the pain I was already feeling.

It's a great feeling when you don't lose :)

keep it up toey, i think the common thread for us cg is lack of self esteem. the longer you stay away and the more you practice good principles, which is the basis of recovery, your self esteem will rise and you will see that you dont need a woman to be happy. sure companionship is nice but we need to love ourselves first and rely on ourselves for happiness. no matter how good looking or nice or what ever the best qualities a person can have, its nothing if you dont believe it yourself. in other words you cannot sell what you dont believe in. you are proving everyday what kind of person you are, how you can fight off and overcome things, how you share on here and inspire and help others, you are a great person and you need to know that. you keep fighting right here with the rest of us, the rest will fall into place when the time is right. god bless

Sometimes when others hurt us, we reinforce that hurt by hurting ourselves. I'm relieved that you didn't do that! GREAT JOB! Repeat after me, "My self esteem is too high to want to be with ANYHONE who doesn't want to be with ME! Act AS IF! Everyone here has already said what needs to be said...you matter. I'm so proud of you for standing tall to your conviction, for believing in yourself enough to push yourself through this difficult time. Your happiness is not dependent on someone else-the lifeline to happiness starts from within. Today is a new day, and the fact that you woke up feeling great about the decision you made is proof enough.
