So I initiated the call today to our state's problem gambling helpline and they recommended a 7 week therapy session (free). I know this will be a good option for me as I have not yet talked with anyone aboutt this. As I come from a religious background, I feel everyone would not understand and be judgmental. I just need to learn to control the "urges" and put my blocks in the way. I need a friend to confide it and the therapist may be it. I'm sure as I face my own demons I will learn to trust and find the person who can be my confidante in this journey.

Just wondering how therapy may have been successful for others?

i went to a therapist for my marriage, and then for an abusive ex bf, i think it was another human being that i respected looking me in the eye and saying "what the hell are you doing" but she said it in a way i couldnt hide from my circumstances anymore professional way.

you will have to go inside your self to fix the outside, everyone is different, some day something will happen or someone will say the thing that stops you in your tracks and makes you finally change

Good for you for reaching out for help. Going to a therapist was my first step too, and it did help me tremendously. You can do this!

I went to treatment in my state and it really helped me understand my addiction. It took me many tries but I am now 163 days free from gambling. It takes hard work and commitment! Until I was willing to do the work I was unable to stop. I have to work on it every day. I will not let go and never give up! You can do it if you work hard!
