Gambling Addiction & Recovery Support Group
Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Problem gambling often is defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others rather...
I will NOT be going tonight. Please join me Sparrow. And anyone else, that refuses to "reward" themselves with the agony of defeat.

Thinking about the stuff that needs to be done this weekend. Gosh, its nice to have a clear mind.
In thinking about my divorce, I had to think about all the negative stuff that made me leave in the first place...kinda the same thought process in gambling.....It always started off exciting only to have the ultimate let down.....its so bad, the last time I went beserk, I was at the bar poker machine for HOURS and could not even leave...the bartender at one point, asked me if everything was okay with me. Man, was I under a spell or what! Then walking around the casino in the early morning looking at those faces....all those faces filled with pain, and others looked like zombies, crack heads and one lady came up trying to sell her rings! Hell NO!!
Peace to Everyone!
Let's pick up on Atticus' suggestion of going to a good movie. You know what? I'm sitting here closing in on my 1 yr GF milestone ( about 55 days away) and I still think about all the "fun" times I had gambling...without a care in the world!
And I wonder...hmmmm? God, how I miss those days. But then I
replay the movie....I replay the tape..and do you know what? Screw those days, because I was so consumed within the "fog" of my addiction, I had absolutely NO idea of which end was up!
This addiction really twists our brain, moreso than most other addictions, because it is silent....it is deadly...it is absolutely invisible to those who are not compulsive gamblers. A few weeks ago, I was sharing some "insight" with my dear brother. When I was through, he hugged me, reassured of just how proud he was of me, right after making the comment "Sis, if anyone else had tried to tell me that you had a gambling problem, I would have told them that they are full of shit, because I always saw you as having your life in/under control".
He's always hated being wrong, nonetheless I told him he was. But I also reassured him, that right here, right now...I feel good about not having to live through the pain of watching the same rerun all over ...time and time again.
About to cook me some popcorn, and watch a really good movie called "It's a Wonderful Life" (without gambling)...who wants butter?
Love and warm wishes to all,
Tagg
Really god? Gonna go throw that in my face?
But you can't take me down. This is my family. without a second thought i drove down there with my son in the car.. and i saw that place.. and just felt pity and anger. I picked up my love and had a hard word to her friend about never trying to take the mother of my child in a car while intoxicated EVER again.. then we drove home.
The dumbest part is he asked her to catch up and then played poker for 2 hours while she waited for a lift.. he was on a "winning streak" and up quite a bit. She asked him to stop and he said "its ok, im not matt"..
I thought about this.. the comment didnt hurt me at all.. im willing to face all my shortcomings.. but the sad thing is i used to be just like him. We used to play together. He is caught in the same thing but chooses not to see.
Regardless, i had a great day.. my son had a great day.. his mum had a great day and yet again yesterday and today i had opportunity to supress and delight her with my new outlook on life, how to treat her, and our family.
Don;t feel longing to go back guys.. feel pity for the ones who dont know hope, or worse.. they don't know they are just connected to the matrix.. not living in reality.
Peace
Matt
Doesnt today look much better than the empty feeling of a weekend lost! Much more good stuff ahead of you Matt..
