I am glad you made it through the weekend, and 29 days, is one day at a time of pure recovery. Why would you plan on losing that? From reading your post, please tell me I'm wrong, but it looks and feels as though you are planning on your next bet? I sure hope not, the surplus of 3500 is a direct result of you not gambling, so as much as you have the urge to go, and trust me, I know the urge, DONT. This is a one day at a time, life long recovery, not one day at a time, and once I reap the rewards of my progress, I can go back. Come on, keep going, you're doing a great job.

congratulations on the 29 days. that speaks volumes. hang in there and make it 99 days......................why not start planning how you are not going to gamble. where can you safely put the surplus money?

hey jm. Hang in there. Do the same thing as you did in July and you will have another 3500 and you will still be GF.
Dont gamble.
Look for something constructive to do with that money. A CD, a mutual fund etc. but please dont gamble.

have you set up a college fund for that little fellow in your picture? might be the time to start. Put it in some kind of fund that takes 2 signatures; yours and ? who will not let you take it out.

Hi to you, see if there is anyone that can work with you on your money. Leave your credit cards with someone. Sometimes that can help. Just think though 3500 is so much more than being behind. I know how you feel about thinking that you could try to get more. Change your thinking so that you see this money as a plus. Peace and love to you.

Today is day 31. I made it to my first goal. I am beginning to be more optimistic as I am seeing life for the first time in a long time. The biggest thing I am learning now is how much bad debt I got myself into thinking I was going to double the money from what I borrowed and pay it all off....not really the case. I have made a plan for next month and I am going to stick to it WHICH MEANS NO GAMBLING.

I will be here a lot...this will be a very tough test.

jmnewco, debt sucks, interest sucks more, but gambling is the worst choice. If you gamble and win, its only a loan. And the "interest" is more than just money, it takes your soul

Jeremy, don't fucking do it. You'll turn that money into 10K trouble. Money is just monopoly tokens. Its not a game.

Hey jm - if you have a surplus of $3500 and you have existing debt, why not put that towards your debt and be done. Don't stick it in the checking be tempted. Any remaining cash I have, I put towards my debt so there's no cash left except my 2 week allowance. If I need to buy anything, I use my credit card and then just pay it. I have no cash advance limits on my credit cards anymore. If you don't have debt, stick it in a Roth IRA or like WVmama said, put it in college funds or something where it's not accessible. Stick with your recovery! Hang in there! I am trying so hard to hang :-)

I agree limit your access. Thinking I can "make money" by gambling is hard to get over. I have given my cash to my grown children to hold for me. It feels ridiculous as I was a single mom to them, but it is the only thing I can do to stop this craziness. Good luck. Let's work together to have a healthier outlook. Peace and love to you!

Hi JM, Congratulations on a month gamble free! Crazy how we have to plan on not to have money, isn't it?! That is how we know we can't gamble like non-cg's. Some really good tips here. I just wanted to say is it worth any price to have some self-respect back? I don't really think so.
