Gambling Addiction & Recovery Support Group
Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Problem gambling often is defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others rather...
I don't even know you can gamble from phone.
Before you pay your bill for this emergency , you got to stop gambling first. Otherwise it will be one bill after the other and there's no end to it.
At this point, you got to get rid of the tool(your phone) which enables you to gamble. I know that a cell phone is the must nowadays but people lived in the before cell phone age still managed to live without a cell phone. I am sure you can do it.
There are a lot of things to do when you finally decide to Quit Gambling. Related Methods/Materials and Advices you can easily find them on this site.
I'm sorry you are hurting so bad right now, however, "ending it all" (suicide), is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. We understand the despair and pain you are feeling...we've all traversed down that road. At some point, though, you have to ask yourself....when is enough, enough? And what is it that I really want to do?
You have lived a clean and sober life from alcohol for 7 years-that didn't happen all by itself. It took your courage and your determination to get that far, and you should be extremely proud of having achieved that great accomplishment. Many here have also accomplished this feat, who now are struggling with a gambling addiction...some have said that beating this addiction (gambling) has been 10x harder to overcome, but it can be done.
I don't know that much about your situation, or what support network is available to you, but there are resources to help you beat this addiction...if that's what it is you want to do. You've mentioned that you can't go to GA...you've tried. I guess my question to you is how hard have you tried, and how long did you stick with it?.
This sight is a tremendous help to all of us, because we care about and support one another through our journeys ....I know you love your family and do not want to keep hurting them by the decisions you are currently making. But if you continue the same behavior, the message you are sending to them is this...."I love gambling more than you".
Please keep coming back here and posting. We will be here for support and encouragement, once you've decided that gambling cannot be a way of life for you. When you are ready to dig your heals in the sand and say "Enough is Enough, right here and right now"....we'll be here for you.
Please take care of yourself ...I will keep you in my prayers. Just don't give up!
Love Tagg
I don't think I could have put it any better than tagg, so I'll simply second that advice and the questions posed.
You need to take a stand and take action. Either stop the merry go round of disaster and get off, or continue to have the misery.
When I stopped I had all sorts of bills due and needed to come up with all sorts of money I didn't have, and needed the time to figure out how to deal with it all- I got through it, not easily, but I did. As compulsive gamblers we always have the money and time to gamble it seems and we always have the ability to find that money and time. To use a corny expression, you should use your powers for good, not evil, now and start to take your life back.
As tagg so rightly put it, don't take the path of a permanent solution to a temporary problem- it will get better over time, so long as you build resolve to make it so.
With love,
Jay
Tagg and Jay are so right. There is most definitely brighter days ahead if you decide to become gamble free.
I quit over 3 months ago, and although I never have enough money to make it through the month, at least my bills are paid. I no longer have to worry about the house being foreclosed on, or the electric being shut off. My debt won't be paid off for quite a while, but at least I know I am taking care of myself instead of wasting it gambling.
Stay true to yourself, and just know we are here for you with open arms.
Hugs
Love,
Lisa
