I found this forum after searching for a gambling addiction support forum and I hope I am at the right place.
Let me start by saying that I am 29 years old and live in Las Vegas. I have lived here for 1 year now and have moved here from California. Both of my parents are gambling addicts, as am I. Throughout my childhood and adulthood, I have watched gambling ruin my parents lives and am trying to stop myself from falling down this same path before it gets any worse.
I am writing this after I have just returned home from yet another losing day at the casino. I have lost a total of $230 today playing Roulette, my game of choice. $230 may not seem like a lot, but this is an every day thing for me, and I have lost over $800 in the past week alone. Every day I tell myself this is the last time I will go to the casino, but i'm always back the next day.
Today, my luck was so bad that I felt this must be a sign from God telling me to stop. I would cover nearly the entire board with chips every spin, but it would always somehow land on the spot where I had no chips. Even thought I felt extremely angry, I realized there was no one I could be angry at except myself. I was the one who made the decision to go to the casino. I was the one who gave them my money, and I am the one who placed the bets. At the end of the day, there is no one to blame but myself.
I am just sick of gambling and the casino and am trying to make a serious effort to quit. This is nothing but a waste of time and a waste of money, and has turned me into an angry, hateful person. I don't know how I ended up on this path, but I am making the decision today that I won't continue on it.

Can you ban yourself from the casinos in Vegas? That might be a good start.

you will have an easier time saying no to that little addict inside your head that thinks that gambling is a good idea.
You might want to print those words out, laminate them, carry them in your wallet, tape them on the bathroom mirror.
Whatever it takes to remember the low. My own rock bottom was similar, in that I became a person I did not recognize as me - sneaky, deceitful, and anxious and full of negativity.
Hang in there - you can get gambling out of your life and reclaim some peace. (((Hugs)))
