Gambling Addiction & Recovery Support Group
Compulsive gambling is an urge or addiction to gamble despite harmful negative consequences or a desire to stop. A preferred term among many professionals is problem gambling, as few people described by the term experience true compulsions in the clinical sense of the word. Problem gambling often is defined by whether harm is experienced by the gambler or others rather...
Avoid fundamentalism, even in recovery. Rigid thinking and dogma can undermine your sobriety.
All in ( ) is my own comments..
4. Make a zero tolerance policy with yourself concerning relapse. Dont even allow your mind to go there. (I need to really pay close attention to that one.)
12. Use mindfulness and a heightened awareness to overcome ego. Use meditation to overcome self. (Oooh yea, overcome self...)
15. Rearrange all the furniture in your house. Anything to get through the night (or day) sometimes. / 16. Clean your house from top to bottom. Same as above. (#1's for me!)
34. Reconnect with your family and spend time with them. (maybe with my immideate family...)
39. Celebrate the recovery of a friend. (I want to celebrate each of mine and your sober day; it is like celebrating Life. And if it is sounds boring, we can create some other kind of fun celebration)
46. Write out a to-do list and cross each thing off as you accomplish it. (As an OCD person, it is always makes me feel better! I even try to do a cross line nice, fat, but neat... I hate OCD)
49. Practice humility. Always be in learning mode. (Tennisjon (!!) is living proff of practicing humility and especially - staying in a "learning mode")
50. Forgive yourself and move on with your life. (Yeah! Easy to say!)
51. Sit down and write 2 goals out for yourself: one big one and one little one. Keep the paper in your pocket. (Not happenning for me,.. big goal is a dream, I can't dream. All my goals are little ones. But I'll try... later.)
69. Keep a high price on your serenity. Dont sacrifice it for just anyone and their whims. (Very Important!!)
94. Dont ask why me? Instead, ask how can I create the life I really want now? (Do I want to life? And if Yes, then what kind of life do I want?..)
98. Get extreme. Figure out what you need to do to stay soberthen double it and add ten. Thats how hard you have to push yourself. / 99. Raise the bar. Stop settling. Use your talents as a gift to the world and make a difference in some way. (For very creative and Young Spirits! I like it!)
Thank You, Lisa for letting me to do an inventory for my fight against my Gambling Addiction!
