I am the wife of a CG. We ahve just began our journey of recovery on Feb. 18th. There is so much to learn and I am very much in need of support. A GA chapter has began in my area four weeks ago. Is that not a GOD thing???
But a Gam anon chapter has not been established. I am so skittish now to call any other spouses because the first CG that gave me his wifes phone number was horrible. I called her and she proceeded to tell me how she and her husband had raised four cildren and she loved him but once she could sell the house, she was leaving him. She proceeded to tell me her long story of grief. I was already dealing with so much..I was not ready to here this story of no hope..
Anyway..invite all your friends. We need to start this site
God less you all Georgiagam

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper? Im ready to start...
I pray you are a source of encouragement to many. While I do not have a 'testimony' (yet) of God turning around our situation, I do know I serve a God who is not taken by surprise by anything we humans do on this earth.
I would like to post on here Gam-Anons 12-steps. I think it will be helpful... what say you?
thanks and God bless. debby
Hi Georgiaham. You probably know me from the CG site. I, like the wife of the CG you called, too has called it quits in my marriage (after tyring for 17 years; 10 of which husband has been in the throws of gambling). The divorce is not the end of everything. It really is just the beginning. The beginning of my husband facing his 'demons' alone. And with me being out of the way and no longer enabling him (as I have done for 17 years) God can do as He will with my husband, Roger.
[the rest above is written okay).
Ex husband and I had separated many times while married because of his behaviors, which I finally recognized stemmed from him being a gambling addict.
When it came to the point I realized our very lives were literarily being destroyed before me with no regardto our son, our future, etc., and I accepted I could not help him, nor change him I was able to let go.
I am not cold-hearted, it hurt and I had lots of struggles, 17 years with someone is a relatively long time.
I began attending alanon-type meetings for me, got busy keeping my yard up, kept working, focused on getting me and our son stable and functional again. I friended up with people who lived me, who did not blame me... We did various things..., nothing, or go to a movie, sit at mall
Next month will be three years. I've set boundaries between me and ex, accepted I did not make him gamble, in otherwords, I am not the cause. AND I finally accepted I could not change him. , talked, cried, went to beach, secluded, read a book, de-secluded. More meetings, I even atteded AA meetings, it helprd me u.derstand struggles of an addict - we do not have GA meetings available here.
Too, I found out fast that ex did not die without me. Nope, he survived. He turned to his family and they enabled him until they GOT it and said no more and said, good bye to him. I do not know if ex still gambles, I do not make it my business. He is on his own. He has been more reliable in seeing our son on a biweekend basis. Im glad for son. He loves his dad.
When I stopped looking back - about eight months ago - I began to see the life that is ahead of me. I found out I can't start over, but I can "go on" which for me has been great. Hope is before me. It is not "behind" me.
I'm pretty simple, I like life without chaos, if I want drama, I'll go to a movie; if I want my bank account depleted its because I've dontated to a chosen charity versus someone I love taking it a putting it on a card game.
Life is short, it is a gift, I am enjoying each day as it comes.
