I've been raised with the view that only family members would love me. Iwon't talk about how that worked out. It didn't simply. Unfortunately,up here anyways, people are more interested in power than love or friendship. It is as if "love" is just a four letter swear word because it is spelled with four letters. But than it just might be the mentality of the people who live in the society you live in. They might be very individualistic and that would close the door to getting toknow anybody, especially if their only interest is the local bar. Might want to try a neighboring municipality where people might be more talkative. There are a lot of sites where people can meet on the internet if you join those where a passion or interest of yours is discussed. good luck. :)

goodie1, I ask myself that question too. We seem to be moving to such a disconnected and lonliness filled society that it seems like it would be a lot earsier for those of us who are lonely and have few friends to help each other and connect and help curb each other's lonliness. Unfortunately, that seems much easier to say than do.

In any case, I would be happy to lend an ear whenever you need someone to talk too. I may not have a lot of answers, but am a good listener.

I feel the same way, this group seems very promising. Yes are correct in every sense of it. People do not want to connect or sacrifice time for meaningful conversations with other people. It makes it hard to find someone who is truly genuine in committing to friendship. So don't think you are alone. If you need a friend, please do not hesitate to connect with me.

i know this is a late post goodie but i feel the same way you do i just lost my 1 love the only girl i ever loved and i feel its all my fault i am totally lost and i think depressing and bad thoughts all the time i just want a girlfriend i spend 25 of my 30 years totally alone now i feel i'm on the verge of hurting myself i have been to every online singles site i never get any msgs EVER so how do you fix this?

We have a society where everyone is supposedly more and more connected via the internet nowadays, but we really don't connect with each other. Maybe I'm old fashioned, but it seems like when the era of actually opening up, sharing about ourselves and showing genuine interest in other people started going away, we just stopped connnecting. A lot of people don't even know how to try to form relationships with other people. To a lof of people, it's all about texting, sending a few short messages, then it's on to someone else, because people just don't know how to go any further.. Jus' sayin.'
