Well you might think I'm a bit weird, but I have a problem with the word proud. The German translation is "stolz" and it has a negative connotation like arrogant or stuck up.
American parents always tell their kids "I'm proud of you" , German parents would never tell their kids ,ich bin stolz auf dich". I am pretty much "Americanized " but I could never bring myself to tell by children I'm proud of you. I would say " you did great, I am so happy for you" or something along those lines.

A while ago I tried to explain this to my daughter in law, but I don't think she really understood. I still believe she thinks it is wrong that I never told my children that I am proud of them.

    My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
