I really have reduced it....my AA sponsor has not used profanity in a number of years....multiple years....

It would be hard, but I could probably do it. I started using profanity as a pre teen. ( I know just awful )

Is it awful? Time, place and company matter. I’ve heard people say horrible things out of their mouths with not one curse word included.

Probably not. It's always about a frustrating situation though, like forgetting something or stubbing my toe. Never directed at others, UNLESS...

They know if I am directing that language at them, they need to start running for the hills, I've reached my limit of suffering fools.

Yes. I've never cursed, even in the toughest of situations. The doctor doing my bone marrow biopsy (very painful) said I was the only patient she'd ever had who didn't curse during the procedure. Cursing would be completely out of character for me. But, I'm not offended by people who do.

Unfortunately no, I do curse a lot and have to be very careful around little ones, lol

I am not a person that curses. Those that do bother me. It's a PTSD trigger for me.

Yes I can go 24 hrs w/out cursing. It takes a lot for me to curse.

Really, I try not to curse in front of my mom or grandma or in a work meeting. Everyone else is fair f*ing game.

I don't curse very often either. When I was a teenager my mom would tell me if I wasn't intelligent enough to find the correct word to express my feelings I should keep my mouth shut. Does anybody else still hear their parents in their head all these years later?

I'd have to make a concerted effort to do so, like back when I worked with kids I'd say something instead like fooschnicker or shiitake but when you're used to being able to say the actual words it does take a little effort to remind yourself you can't. So long as I'm not watching the news I think I could manage to use some creative alternates again for 24 hours...

@Lesa - Oh yes, definitely. I remember being about 7 years old and discovering the word "hell" for the first time. I started saying it left and right and one time we were in the car and I was saying "hell hell hell"... and my Dad just pulled the car over so fast, turned around in his seat and said, "Don't you EVER say that word again!"

And you know what, I never did...

I don't really curse that much, so I could go a long time.
