Panic buying

Back in 1973 there was a gas shortage which led to long lines at gas stations, panic buying of gas and gas rationing.  I remember there was a local convenience store owner who is now retired and I remember buying gas from him one day and I asked him why he wasn't rationing his gas like everyone else and his comment was, "I can't make any money with it sitting in the ground that's fer sure!"   Hw was also, the first one to run out of gas as well.


Long story short, there was also panic buying of toilet paper which led to shortages...This all started as a joke on the Johnny Carson show, which people believed was true! Here is a video that will take you back to that time and is a good example to how we get addicted to the things we are use to....

Wow! I remember the gas lines but not the toilet paper shortage. Very interesting, and it gives me hope that this too shall pass. Thanks for sharing!
