I think he was a great singer....but had heard his health had gone to hell in handbasket with dementia if I remember correctly....that happened to the other guy too.....Lineman for the county....Glen Campbell

I didn't know he had dementia. I did like is music. "Islands in the Stream" was a favorite. I loved "Lucille" too!

I heard he was in hospice but had no idea it was due to dementia. The article I read only said he'd been having health problems since 2018, which was the last time he performed anywhere I think.

Growing up not particularly familiar with country music, Kenny Rogers was someone I still knew because he was a crossover artist at a time when stations in New York weren't often playing many country acts. I remember hearing songs like "Lady" and "Through The Years" and "We've Got Tonight" quite a lot back in the day. Pretty sure people of a certain age even if they have never listened to country music they can identify Kenny Rogers because he had several crossover hits in the late '70s and early '80s.

I was a fan of Kenny Rogers. My best memory was when I worked at The Ramada Inn dining room in 1976 or so. Another waitress came to the kitchen and said "You know that singer Kenny Rogers is in your station" I went out to the dining room and there he was with a few of his band members. ( I heard they were doing a show here.) He ordered ice tea to start. When I thought the time was right I slipped a piece of paper near him and asked for his autograph. He was so polite and pleasant. I recently gave the autograph to my daughter. I saw him the next morning again at breakfast shift but someone else waited on him. I loved to see him sing with Dolly Pardon. However, when my Grandson was small we used to sing "Lucille" in the pool. I reminded my Grandson last night. He remembered it well. May Kenny Rest in Peace. He made a lot of people happy with his music.

All great songs, well respected man. Also I miss Glen Campbell....their Legacy will live on.

Oh yes... my best friend growing up and I would listen to his tapes over and over, acting like we were singing. Perhaps he's the reason I like a good beard?? ;)
