Friends til the end Community Group
A group for those of us here who get more from our friendships than from the available discussion groups. A place to be accepted and appreciated for who we are. Somewhere to always feel safe and know that especially on the bad days we are here for each other .A place for encouragement and love.
Hello friends. Thx for letting me join. I have a question.... or just wanting a sounding board.
I have cfs and RA.... it's been 9 years and I do work part/ part time as an ESL tutor to Chinese children in China via the internet. BUT, I am about to hit the max I can make or I will lose my government insurance substity. So... for a little adventure I am thinking about house sitting in the Rocky Mtns for the summer. My husband does NOT like to travel and traveling is hard for me. Plus expensive. But my daughter lives in Denver CO and I was thinking it would be fun to do a few adventures. The cons
1. I get to do a little sight seeing
2. I get to stay in a place rent free / there is no payment to mess up my insurance / and I satisfy my love of travel w/o it becoming expensive
3. I can rest all I want
4. I can go for only 1 to 2 weeks at a time and be very comfortable
5. I can still do the theraputic things I like... sewing / yoga / meditation
6. I can be in some nature. / i love the mountains
7. I can choose locations close to my daughter
8. I can at least try it... if I don't like it... don't do it again....
So... what do you guys think? I haven't discussed it with my husband. He does not like to travel and he never takes off work. NEVER. He has no intentions of traveling and refuses to spend money. He thinks travel is a waste of time / money. He is very independent as I am as well. We have a wonderful marriage but we married later in life and do not try to change each other. He's an earth sign. I'm a water sign. Enough said on that. I make his anxious with wanting change and he makes me feel stagnant.... LoL. It's just the yin and yang of marriage. I would never leave my precious man. I am just needing a break from my static RA life here and would like a little adventure w/o chaos of a hecktic travel budget and agenda. My mom goes on those bus trips and they have them up at the crack of dawn and going all day. That wld kill me. I have no interest in that kind of travel. I like quiet/ patios/ playing my ukulele / meditation / yoga / nature / and museums.
Any thoughts???
Thx. GingerGirl. I am 56

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

1. working around doctor's appts
2. being by myself most of the time
3. ... ah... maybe u guys can think of some others
I'm thinking that if hubby is okay with it, it sounds like there are a lot of pros there.
Trying it to see if you'd enjoy it would be very tempting.
For me working around doctor's appointments would make it impossible. If your schedule is more flexible though why not?
Being close to the mountains and your daughter might be the ideal adventure.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder too, so hubby might benefit in the long run too.
I couldn't be too far away from medical center/physicians/civilization; I love being out in mountains & valleys. I'm a City Gal at heart, though.
You might get a real taste for it visiting there & with your daughter near! At least you would be there in person ~ sights, sounds, people all for helping you to have more pros and cons?!
Have a good time even just thinking about it and best of luck!
But I am from the flatlands now and older... so thank you for the reminder to take it slow and easy!!!
I did it. I signed up and started building my profile. I contacted 3 different home owners. I called my mom and she said she is willing to go with me.
We will see how it goes.
Yay!
