Yes, ~ In order to become president of the United States, a candidate must win more than half of the votes in the Electoral College (currently that would be 270 of the 538 total electors).

If no candidate wins a majority of electoral votes, the 12th Amendment to the Constitution provides for Presidential election by the House of Representatives with each State delegation receiving one vote.

Twice in our history, the House of Representatives has chosen the President -- Thomas Jefferson's election in 1801 and John Quincy Adams' election in 1825.

I would be very worried if it came to that House of Representatives voting scenario... I mean, the GOP holds the most seats but would they all side with Trump? If each state's reps collectively have to make one vote, would they even all agree on how to do that for their state? I mean, back in the 1800's there were far fewer states and probably more of a balance in the House save for a few small states clearly being outweighed in size and population... these days some states have so many representatives who knows if they would be able to agree on one vote especially with all the vitriol. Seems like they should do like "X Factor" does with a deadlock vote among the judges - they revert back to the viewer vote; why don't we just revert to the overall total votes cast if the electoral college votes don't manage to determine a winner?
