The sky was alight with the setting of the sun and the bright orange glow of the rising moon. I was on a girl scout field trip. Off to the pumpkin patch we went. Driving right into that burning moon. Sitting in the back seat of that car, I was drawn to the moon. In totally awe of its magnificence. As we drove on, the sun set. The moon was in its full glory now. We had fun that night. A haunted hay ride, dancing and singing under the stars. All was well, for the exception of getting bit in the face by an old hound dog. He was crowded by children petting him. I was the unlucky one he lashed out at. I still have the scar.
To this day, I still look to the moon. Look for that same night. In hope I can find a lost piece of my self. Humbled by its shine. Looking for that same glow, the glow of my childhood.
