Foster Care Support Group
Foster care is a system by which a certified, stand-in parent(s) cares for minor children or young peoples who have been removed from their birth parents or other custodial adults by state authority. Responsibility for the young person is assumed by the relevant governmental authority and a placement with another family found.
As much as we don't want her reunified with her father, we're all about ready for her to go. Contact with her SW is slim to none. Visits with him are supervised, yet she comes back to us after visits with a crappy attitude--what is being said at these visits to make her hate us and school so much? SW tells us "visit went well" and then runs out the door saying nothing more. Dad has a upcoming court date, but SW kept giving us a date almost 2 weeks later than it is.
We were told that "grandparents" would just need CORI/Background/Fingerprints. Nope, they need a FULL Home Study done, even to come to our house to babysit for a couple of hours. All that info given to DCF so they could start the process 2 months ago. Nothing has been done, so we're trapped. Can't have a "date night" or even go Xmas shopping together.
We lack support from the system. It sucks.
