I received a phone call from my agency around 830pm asking if I would take in a 8 yr old lil girl as a emergency placement she didn't no much about the child only that she was very smart for her age.. this child arrived at my home at 12am cps worker said she was taken straight after school but said this could all had been avoided if the lil girls mom would have let a family member take her, I asked why was she taken she said it was a long story and left it at that. this lil girl only came with the clothes on her back which was a school uniform/backpack socks n tennis. when the cps worker left it was 1am this lil girl was devastated cried most of the morning I finally calmed her down. cps said they had court that day with the mom and didn't no how long the child would be with me. around 430pm I get a call from the cps worker saying she would pick up the child in the morning to return home to her mom, right after I hung up she called right back and said no she had to return home asap to her mom.. This is what I don't understand cps take a child from the mom but she is returned the very next day I am beginning to think that cps is taking these kids for petty reasons which I think is terrible do they not understand what this does to a child. The more I am fostering I am seeing a lot of dishonesty with this system and something needs to be done about it.. I know there are a lot of unfit parents but I do think that cps is taking a lot of issues to far it just saddens me for what these innocent lil kids have to go through.
