My specialty was not in the adoptions aspect of social work, but the estimate of 6mo. to a year is about right in the states where I did work, however I do not have any experience with Texas. I do know that changing social workers is normal depending on the where a case is at any current time and it generally takes a few days up to 2 weeks to change to a new unit. A case starts with an investigative social worker to determine if there is even a need for cps involvement, a court worker when a child is removed, an on-going social worker during the reunification process, a permanency worker if a parent fails to reunify and an adoption social worker if a child is going to be adopted.

Your foster daughter should have a worker from cps no matter where in the case so you may want to call the prior worker's supervisor and see who currently is in charge of the child's case or if she is simply awaiting a new assignment. You could also speak to a supervisor in the adoption unit and see what the adoption process entails in Texas and when your foster daughter will be given a new worker. If you get nowhere with the supervisor I would contact the child's attorney to have my questions answered. But as with anything in cps, expect the adoption process to take longer than you would like. I wish you both luck in this difficult process, especially with new relatives that just pop out of nowhere.

thank u shadow.. its sad I haven't heard anything from cps since 6/30 its sad my foster child is wanting to talk or see her 2 little sisters but cant.. im going to text her old cps worker and get her supervisor number this doesn't make any since I mean I haven't heard nada!!

Not sure about the law in Texas but in the states where I worked it was mandated that every foster child have face to face contact with their cps worker during every monthly period. So if it is the same in Texas they technically have almost another 2 weeks to have a visit with her, but there should always be a duty worker available should a child/foster parent have an issue while the child is moving to a new unit. But then again we all have heard the tragedies of the lost children in Florida where so many children were lost in the system. Good thing she has someone like you willing to fight for her. If the old worker doesn't help, contact the office where they work. There should be a main number and they can transfer you to a supervisor. Again don't forget to utilize the child's CASA and attorney as they can be valuable assets when CPS is not doing their jobs adequately.

Shaddow I really thank u for the info guess what my foster child do not have casa and I have never met her attorney like I did my 1st foster child.. when I texted her previous cps worker for her supervisors phone number to get info on her new case worker she went off on me asking why would I want her supervisor's number when she can answer the same question I swear I wanted to curse her sorry ass out I told her I guess u forgot when u came to tell me that u were no longer her case worker and to sit and wait for her new one u gave me no further info than so what the hell am I suppose to do when this child is crying to see her sisters hell she cant even talk to them.. lol this a joke how cps shows how they really don't care about these children or the agencies I see why so many good foster parents quit its so many times I wanted to but I think about my foster child how she needs me. Unfortunately I had to take her to a mental hospital yesterday and was there 6 long hours to get her help im so frustrated I don't no what to do all im doing is praying I have no support group and dare to call my agency or cps for help or advice they seemed bothered when asking for help this is just so sad I have lupus and its flaring up because of all this stress just trying to get this child help.. But right now I be damn if I give up on her that's the problem we quit and don't stick in it to help these poor children. Now since the mental hospital kept her I have a few days to go out in my back yard and just scream that's what I think I need right now yuck!!!!!!

Do you have a local support group? If so, they will probably already know her supervisor's phone number. Also, if you call the main office, someone there can tell you as well.
