Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...
Take care!!
I think your approach sounds very sensible and its something I will try
thanks
I weigh myself once a week, and, at last weigh-in, I'd somehow managed to GAIN half a pound! I'm not sure why, as I didn't cheat all week. But, I was very, very inactive - a stomach flu had kept me from exersizing, and had a lot of stressful things and challanges with new work, which caused me to focus on getting work stuff done, instead of exercising.
But, I'm refusing to be discouranged. :-)
I remind myself that weight fluctuates, and that next week will be better, I'm sure. Meanwhile, I've still lost 10 pounds, so that's something positive to focus on, instead of the little 1/2 pound gain.
Yes, dieting can defiently set us up to binge....what I do, is, I allow treats on my diet. I've noticed that if I allow treats, I don't feel deprived, and feeling deprived is what leads to a binge, for me. So, really, I wind up having a treat every day. I'm currently eating 1500 calories a day, instead of something more severe, like 1200. At 1500 I don't feel deprived, and there's room for treats.
Good luck to everyone.....
It's confusing how my brain just works so much different than those normal "dieters" in there.
I'm so glad you didn't give up, and I'm so glad you posted. I'm still not quite sure what to do, but I have a glimmer of hope at this very moment!
Trust me, you can do it!
I know this, because I'm doing it!
I'm 33, almost 34, and I've been struggling with binge eating all my life. I think I started when I was a kid, just like 10 or 12 - and I think I started eating to comfort myself, to deal with the abuse I grew up with.
So, my point is, I've been struggling with this all my life.....and now I'm beating it. I haven't binged in 5 months! I started dieting about 2 and 1/2 months ago, and have lost 11.5 pounds!
So....I am doing it. I will beat it - no, I AM beating it. Every day. And, if I can do it, so can you, I'm sure.
