Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...
Good on you for realising what isn't working for you and taking steps to plan the way forward. Yes, I too have found dieting/starving myself to be very triggering and counter-productive. It keeps the binge/starve cycle going and hooks into shame and self-loathing hugely for me.
I know for me I need to eat in a way that I can realistically manage for the rest of my life, one day at a time. That is not a diet as that cannot provide the nutrition my body needs long term. Diets for me trigger big-time the cravings and sense of deprivation. It seems you too have found this to be the case for your.
You taking great steps towards recovery. Keep going and take it slow and steady.... Have a great day! Kim :)
I guess the main benefit is not weighing and measuring all of my food - although I am making healthy choices!! I will keep you posted with how I get on!!
