Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...
But there is hope. There are ways to fight this. It seems like the actual path differs for all of us, but one central thing is to forgive yourself for what's happened so far, and believe that you can turn this thing around. There's nothing that will help much until you get yourself through those two parts.
Can you talk a little more about how you got to this point? I know you said you don't know how you got here. But, tell us about a time in your life when this wasn't a problem, and see if we can't help you find your way back to that mindset.
And in the meantime, try to go just a little longer without binge eating tomorrow than you did today. Even if you don't make good choices all day, try to set a goal of an hour, or two hours, or twenty minutes, or whatever, and find a way to distract yourself for that time. Drink lots of water and eat a healthy breakfast, and then set a timer, and then you'll know you can keep it together for twenty minutes, or whatever time you set. And maybe you can try it again in the afternoon, after a balanced lunch. You'll show yourself that you CAN do this, even if just for a short time. You can make it a little longer the next day, and you might find that you can get from breakfast to lunch soon. You can do this.
