Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...
Yes I definately believe that craving sugar can be physiological in nature versus psychological....at least for me it is. I've just recently (2 months ago) given up all refined sugar (candies were my trigger) and I'm trying to limit the amount of refined carbs I eat because they convert to sugar. I do eat carbs but I make sure that they are whole grain.
I'm learning slowly to track how all of a sudden my craving for sugar will pop-up out of the blue. One of the worst triggers for me is being home from work (like today because of a snowstorm) and being bored. But I'm telling myself that at least I'm "learning" to recogize these feelings.
All I can say is that my cravings...and I mean tear my hair out cravings at times for sugar, have all but disappeared since I gave it up. It has helped me to read a couple of books about food addiction and how sugar seems to be the number 1 culprit for many food addicts (along with flour and wheat for some people).
