Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...

Hi guys,
I'm new to this site, but not new to recovery. I don't have time to go to meetings and I'm struggling A LOT with night eating and binging in secret. It started when I was a kid as did a whole host of other addictions. I've managed to recover from everything BUT food. I lost a lot of weight and I've been able to keep most of it off BUT I still binge and now it's mostly at night in bed right as I'm about to fall asleep. It really screws eerything up because I'm "good" all day and then I double my calorie intake for the day as soon as my head hits the pillow. Of course, it also means that the next day I feel more lethargic and full of shame. I'm pretty sure what I need right now is a "place" to go when the craving to eat hits me. It's often too late to make a phone call and my other friends in recovery don't have this same addiction, too. My binges used to look a lot of different but the reasons for them remain the same. The quantity of food and hours spent binging has been greatly reduced over the years, but it's the action that's still eating me up on the inside (no pun intended). I know all the tricls and CBT stuff. I know how to do things a day at a time. I think what I'm missing is a meeting right around the time I want to eat, and since that's mostly at bed time now I feel like an online community is my best bet. Somewhere I can log on to chat or whatever and get support. Is that here? Is there anyone willing to exchange email addresses or something?
Thanks,
Steph

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I was recently separated from my wife of 33 years and it's complicated. Anyway I rented a room about 15 minutes away and I see my kids about once a week. I see the people who own the house I live in once in a while but other than that I stay in my room where I do my cooking, wash dishes in the shower, read, color, and sleep. I get out at least once a day. I grocery shop and I attend 2 meetings...

What I do is bury myself in books and learning as much as I can about things that interest me. Following my musical passions. (I play guitar) plus meditation also helps.
I switched from drugs to alcohol to food but have been sober for 5 years now..
Another trick is to journal what you are feeling at the time you feel like binging on food. That seems to help at times as well but the hardest thing to do is the soul searching to find out why you are triggered by food especially at that time of day..
Good luck to you. Keep posting and let us know what works for you. You might be helping someone else in the process!
God Bless
