Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...

Addiction of any kind is a symptom of deeper emotional issues. Most people start with a visit to their doctor who will ask you a bunch of questions to determine if you are suffering from depression or anxiety or any one of other mental health problems so that you can be treated for them.
You may get anti depressant medication or anxiety meds and/or you may be referred for counseling. In the end, the decision is entirely yours on how you want to treat it.
Keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. You may be helping others and not know it. Many people read these but don't reply.

I'm diagnosed with bi polar, borderline personality disorder and anxiety. Currently on a lot of meds to deal with that as well. I'm being sent for DBT so I think I will bring it up with the counsellor
I remember years ago I was put on prozac for depression and it caused weight gain in me. I told my doctor about it, and she put me on a different medication that didn't make me gain weight.
I read your story by the way and I just wanted to say that I admire your courage in getting out of the toxic situation you were in and I wish you luck going forward with your new life.
God Bless
