Food Addiction Support Group
An individual suffering from a food addiction disorder frequently experiences episodes of uncontrolled eating, or binging, during which they may feel frenzied or out of control. They will eat much more quickly than is normal, and continue to eat even past the point of being uncomfortably full. Binging in this way is generally followed by a period of intense guilt feelings...
I abused food. It was my drug of choice. It was killing me. Then I read about a guy who reminded me so much of myself that it scared me. He told his story in a way that hit way too close to home. When I finished the article, everything changed. I decided to change.
I know it sounds overly simple, but believe me when I say it isn't easy. I miss my comfort food the way I would miss one of my children. But I am going to break the chains of this addiction.
You can break your chains too!
Glad you put yourself out there that's a step.
It's definitely related to emotions. And I can completely relate to you. Hope you'll check back in and let us know how things are going.
One of the best things I took from the group was this. "How long has this been a problem for you? Well it could take that long to recover. Think about a sculpter with a large block of stone. If you just keep chipping away, bit by bit, eventually you will end up with a masterpiece!"
You've already taken a massive chuck out in realising your problem, so just keep chipping away! x
