Ahhh you hit a little bump in the road and are teaching some people tough love to help them be able to stand upon their feet on own...You have had to experiance this because you refused to do what everyone had been advising you all along , let the adult children stand on their own two feet so that they may survive w/o you one day...
You will be ok and recover from this but maybe listen to what everyone trys to pass on as wisdom to you in certain situations so that you do not have to experiance it first hand...
Ok now that your eyes are opened...and you are struggling just a little...Embrace it and grow together from it...

The kids are more or less outta the house, my stepdaughter is a bigger problem and that is an entirely different post. I am an independent computer consultant so this is a major roadbump for car and cash right now. I believe cars have internet access to bank accounts - when you seem to be flush, they break. This is a major buster though. We will get through it, I am confident of that but it hurts like hell right now.

being thankful for the one car that is still running will be a good start on making this easier to swallow....one car between two can be hard but is workable...entirely workable...unless both are dependent on the car for their living earning wages....I am not sure that is the case...if my car broke I would be up a creek as I am going places all day long for income generation....if both do not use wheels to make money all day round then it will be workable...also public transportation might help just one get to and from the job site..

Yeh darn it don't you hate murphy's law...Like I said as soon as you almost get debt free something happens..Car breaks down, washer /dryer goes...Positive pregnancy test...I'm glad I have a positive pregnancy test but at least it should be a 7 day grace period...LOL

Update - the car is dead, engine repair about $4,500. Selling the car and god knows what I will replace it with. Mood changed to horrible. Going to the backyard tonight and swalloing pills is something I am now thinking about.

Thats not a solution to your problems..Nevermind fixing the car go to a local court house and see what is up for auction..You may be able to pick up something cheap that can last another couple yrs or so...A junker even from the yard may do too...My step son picked up one from the wrecking yard for 500 dollars other than a few repairs it has ran well for a couple of yrs now...My son also picked up one from the auction for 1500 and it has lasted him going on 3 1/2 yrs...

Cost me another $200 to get the engine evalauted = dead and towed to a parking lot so that won't cost me another $65 a day. I have spent over $800 on a now dead car. And in 2 weeks too. Incredible. I am tapped OUT and have no money to spare for anything right now. My wife is not talking to me, she has given up. Believe me, really thinking about pills and the back yard.

i have considered a Vespa from time to time. Still here though and still stressed out. Damn car ate up all of my ready cash before it died, Had it died first, this would not be so incredibly painful.

Slowly stressing and de-stressing. Last night I did the old "lay myself down to bleed for a while .... and then rise up and fight again." I am getting about 550 or so for the wreck, by Friday. Well, one number down and I can draw down some of my computer accounts for assistance in the next two weeks. Still, a major bust.
