Hi everyone-I haven't been on here for a while-trying to get things improved, but it isn't working. I have been out of work since May, 2008. I only have 13 weeks of unemployment left. I've been trying to pay a little to each of my bills each month. But I have 2 big problems. One, I have not been able to pay my house taxes this year. I send the town $100 each month, if I have it, but my taxes are $6000 this year. I hope they wont take my house away from me-its all I have. Also, my oil company has stopped delivering oil to me until I pay the $1900 I own them from last winter. A part of that amount is late fees and termination fees, which I don't feel I owe because I didn't ask them to close my account-they did it to me. So until I pay that, no oil. Which means I have no hot water. I'm almost 60 years old, and I should be able to take a shower, you know? Although I've applied for several jobs, I haven't found anything. I don't know what I am going to do. I think I may start giving piano lessons, but I sure can't make a living off of that. Any ideas anyone? Thanks for listening to me rant! God Bless! Kathy

It won't make much money either--but a little money is better than none--you can sell odds and ends on Ebay. You might also check with your local DHS office if you are in the US. Here we have a program that helps pay utility bills--they would be able to tell you if there is something of that sort near you.

I haven't found anything from work from home but if you have things that you want to get rid of you can do the ebay thing. I have done that for 2 years but now I don't have anything left to sell.
Can you sign up for food stamps to help with the groceries and have more money to go to bills?
Do you have family that can help? I know asking for help is hard but sometimes we have to.

I just found a job housekeeping at a hotel, and I also do it on the side. If you know how to clean, it's rather easy. Dosen't bring that much money, but better than nothing.
