This community is for people who are struggling to meet financial obligations of any kind. Financial challenges include everything from the day-to-day challenges of making ends meet to managing credit card debt to bankruptcy. It is so true for me. I have been to hell and back with my debts and credit and fixing them both. I will not go down that path again just to have a relationship.
I consider myself fortunate with this as my girlfriend is amazing with finances and debt. In fact, she was the one who inspired me to fix my problems.
I've loved her for awhile but I couldn't make a commitment to her until I got my own house in order. There was no way I would get into a serious relationship with her and risk her financial health because mine was bad.
It is a very comforting feeling to know that the lady I'm dating has excellent credit and that mine is very good and that we are both debt free...
It goes back to an old Chinese proverb, "You teach a child to walk, it doesn't mean you buy them shoes for the rest of their lives."
