If your landlord won't do anything, try and strike up a conversation with a neighbor or two and hint around about bed bugs, you might find out you're not the only one dealing with this problem.
If your landlord won't do anything and you find out that it is in more then one apartment, I would consider talking to legal aid... it is usually free and see if they have any advice.
Most communities anymore don't look kindly to "slum lords" and will side with the tenants on many issues...
Good luck
Any silver lining possible, right? :-\
If you have new neighbors they could be the cause of them... or if you have neighbors that went on a vacation and spent time in a hotel, they could have brought them back.
There are now sprays that you can get from Walmart for bedbugs... I have no idea how effective they are but it may be worth a try...
All of your advice has been so helpful and just being able to talk to other people and bounce my ideas of what to do has been very comforting.
