Selling engagement ring

I am in a situation now where I'm separated from my soon to be ex husband and am now in a place of my own, having to adjust from two incomes to one. I'm behind on a lot of things and I just want to get back on track. So I decided to sell my engagement ring to get a little jump on some extra funds......


Does anyone know of the sort of places I should take it? I know a pawn shop won't give me half of what they'll sell it for and I just want to be rid of the ring and get some bills paid....

If you want to get any kind of money on it maybe try one of those gold buyers that you see in the newspaper every now and then... sadly though the fact is jewelry is marked up 1,000 to 1,500%... actual value is not much at all...

I took some gold to one of those places and they offered me so little I decided to keep the items. ( I know I can't get what they're worth, but to be offered 15 dollars on a gold chain I know cost over 300 just wasn't worth it). I have 2 diamonds I'd like to sell , but around here the going price seems to be about 50 dollars. I know the prices of both were over 500 , each, so just can't see selling them for such a low amount.

You can get the diamond appraised ( here it costs 100 dollars to get that done with some sort of "Seal of Approval" to prove the cost is accurate. ) . You might get more money that way. Good luck!
