Just one step at a time. Like I have mentioned before, just start with one goal. The first goal for me was to never again be overdrafted on my checking account. When that became manageable everything else started to fall in line.
I was so far in debt... I was overwhelmed... I had to devote all my attention just to one thing at a time. And my checking account is where I started.
Knock on wood, I haven't bounced a check in three years...
I'm wondering if I should pay off my cc and cut it up, because right now it is toxic debt as I see it, and not a necessity. I also need to see if I can do something about the truck I don't want to have it repossessed, maybe go trade it in for something more manageable. I think I need to catch up on the payments first though. That is my thought.
Its just so frustrating not having any money for 2 straight months my checks have went straight out directly to a bill. and nothing to buy necessities for the home. Or gas for that matter. Its just all too frustrating right now.
I know it will get better, but right now it's just like doors or closing on me and nothing is opening up like I want it too. ugh!!!
So I am putting my coins back that I used a few weeks back, it was a total of $35 in coins but I am putting back only $20 right now.
I took out my money from my checking acct and am going to use that for household necessities, and gas.
It just sucks because my honey has a birthday this Saturday and I have nothing to give him. I hope my company will be enough.
My dad's birthday is today also. It's just a time in the year when I am broke and it always happens this way. I have tried every year to have money this time of the year, and each April/May I am struggling to make it to the next payday. I have to see what I am doing wrong. What in April/May is it that causes me to go completely broke.
And it's odd because I have the most money this time of the year, I get a yearly bonus, not much but it helps, then I have my tax returns which usually adds up to quite a bit. and then my job. But when my taxes deplete, I end up more broke and struggling twice as much. hmmm.....something to ponder on.
I used to be wild with spending and always broke. Three years ago, I met a person who makes well below half of what I do and they live pretty comfortably.
That person was my inspiration. Here they were having half of what I had financially but yet they had a savings account, great credit and living a very simple life.
It was because of them that I really looked at how I was spending money. I haven't had a raise in four years, so income never changed but my expenses changed radically.
Me personally, if I never changed my spending habits, no income would have ever been enough...
I asked him about helping me out with my payments on the truck but he has to get himself on his feet first I guess. He's been out of work for about 6 mos. I think he will be ok. I just hope he knows I need his help. ugh!!
I wish I could quit stressing so much.
That is the freedom of choice. We may freely help others out... that does not mean they should help us. They may choose not to help out.
There is a saying in 12 Step groups... expectations lead to resentments.
To be financially fit, we need to be responsible for our own debts.
Three years ago, I was deep in debt and also deeply in love. I could not and would not commit to a deeper and more serious relationship until my debts were either gone or well under control.
Now I am deeper and more serious with our relationship and it is so freeing that I didn't bring any extra baggage into it...
I told him "no" on having $20 dollars this morning. I felt good at the moment, but now I am feeling guilty about it. ugh! I know I don't have the money to give to him. I thought I had more, but I don't. Thank goodness I didn't say "yes"
As a codependent myself I have tried so many different ways to make someone "love" me and the only way I truly figured out how to do it is for them to accept me for who I am, not who they want me to be...
Also remember "No" is a complete sentence. You don't need to follow it with any reason or explanation...
I concur with Dave. Your partner has to paddle his own canoe.
When I feel comfortable enough I will put my money that is in my envelopes into a saving acct earmarked Emergancy Fund.
I also put $50 dollars into my truck-gas, and got me a gas card, that I marked "gas only" so it's not used for anything else.
It may not seem like a lot to start but it is moving in the right direction... just not overdrafting will increase your income...
Keep it up!!!!
