With patience I have avoided impulsive purchases. For the most part I use a 72 hour rule... yet one purchase usually takes me anywhere from three to seven months.
That purchase is for my airplane ticket to England. Every year the price rises a little and I try to time it just right to get the best deal. I used to go for the cheapest price I could find but that ended up wearing me out.
Now I don't mind spending a little extra to have one less stop. After 16 hours of flight, going from three flights to two flights saves a lot of wear and tear on the body.
That idea though has been put to the test this year. My one stop flight had a price increase of $750... which is a $1,200 more then a package with two stops.
I keep checking and checking and the price came down $100 and I was ready to get it but I decided to wait... my holiday is still seven months away.
Well, I checked this morning and another airplane is starting to fly to Manchester, England for 60% less then the other flight.
I'll still wait some more, probably till the end of June but the idea of a one stop flight is a reality again.
Moral of the story, there is nothing wrong with waiting on a purchase, we don't always have to buy things RIGHT NOW!!!

There was an elderly gentleman named Dick that everyone knew. If you needed something, Dick would have it. He was a collector, yet from the yard all look well. The yard was mowed and well kept.
When Dick died they pulled up a couple of skips (dumpsters) and started emptying out the home. Box after box of garbage. Things he bragged about were being tossed away.
After that was done, they used the house for a fire drill and burned it to the ground. There was nothing left of this guys home... or even of this guy's life.
I haven't thought about that in 30 years and I wonder if times like that is where I began to understand that "owning" things really wasn't that important because, to me, I never owned anything, it was just the opposite... it owned me.
Next time I head to Manchester I'll fly easyJet from Belfast International Airport to John Lennon Airport in Liverpool and take the Bus service from that Airport to Chorlton Street. (However the Bus does stop at Eccles, so perhaps I could get off there and use the Metro service for the remainder of the journey. Perhaps book a Hotel in Bury as my Teacher Cousin lives in Radcliffe)
Instead of EasyJet why not FlyBe?
I don't know... I'm just saying that if you look around you might find a cheaper flight.
I was all prepared to go to a different airport this winter when my regional airport started a new flight by Delta, that has made the journey incredibly cheap...
