This community is for people who are struggling to meet financial obligations of any kind. Financial challenges include everything from the day-to-day challenges of making ends meet to managing credit card debt to bankruptcy. Get support from others who are going through similar obstacles on the road back to financial stability.
I want to talk about how to get children in the habit of saving instead of spending, I want them to learn the concept of delayed gratification; instead of instant gratification.
Some of the things I do:
yard sales, food sales, lemonade sales, car wash; save coins, money gifts, allowances, money for chores (this has to be aside from there regular chores),
But there problem is same as mine, they want to spend it as soon as they get it. It is so frustrating.
Give me some ideas to encourage saving instead of spending.

The minute I wasn't on top of it, the envelopes were missing, the money was misplaced, we were at the store ... I'd made a special trip and he forgot his money.
So.Much.Work for the parent. So tired. I hope it works for you. Mine is still spending the minute he gets it. Sigh.
Show him HIS bank statement, the amount of money growing in his account. If he is like my kids, they look forward to seeing how much $$ they have saved up.
