No, they are not out of money. How could they be out of money with all the TARP money they received from us tax payers? Those greedy leeches are running scared and they are attacking all the people they can. They are going to pull all the dirty stunts that they can get away with.

Im in the UK and ran a business 14 years.I had a dirty trick pulled on me and some other hardworking decent people who just have families mow the lawn.I owed a company1 pound 75pence and the company harrassed me sent letters.I owe the company the money yes but it was their tatics for I.75 for crying out loud.Im sorry but people in a debt situation have got some companies and banks that will do some nasty tatics on people that have found themselves in a terrible situation and through no fault of their even if they have a good credit history before Casinobogies right some are acting like greedy leeches.

wow...why is it that everyone is so down on banks. First they are angry that they "lend money foolishly" to people who had a dream to own a home and now can't make the payments (forget that they were the ones that signed the documents); or that they give credit cards to people who are not creditworthy or who can't afford to pay them off; then, we are angry that they are re-analyzing their credit risks to reduce losses and get back on track to pay the government back the tarp money. Yes, they have to pay it back plus interest! I am sorry for your personal situation and you probably would have continued to pay your debt. But, let's be real. Credit card debt is unsecured and the first thing people STOP paying if they get in a financial bind. Much to everyone's chagrin, banks are not non-profit and they need to weigh the statistics and make sound judgments. Our banking system is going through some major adjustments...read the paper. Banks are not responsible for all the job losses in America or for the fact that people have borrowed way beyond their means. Who can account for why so many people decide it is better to cut their losses and not make their payments than to tighten their belts and pay their debts down. But since that is the case, you were caught in the result. The fact that they left you with an open credit line is a tribute to your good payment history. There are a lot of people who have had their credit frozen for now. Some times the bank is doing you a favor; sort of like tough love. This is not vicious and uncaring...I work for a bank and I can tell you it hurts to have people think like this. WE CARE. It's just that in today's economy it is better to focus on less debt than more. As for the error, who among us has not made a mistake. People work for the bank, mistakes happen and I assure you they will do their best to correct it as quickly as possible. My prayers are with you but please don't bankers greedy leeches who are running scared...we are just hard working Americans trying to help people achieve their financial dreams.

I think we have excellent reasons to be angry with the banks.

They demanded money, or else! They literally told Congress there'd be chaos and martial law.

And they demanded these trillions of dollars with NO accountability!

And then, they didn't use it to give more loans as they promised -- they used the money to buy up competitors and to lobby Congress for more money and even less accountability.

The question isn't why are people angry at the banks. They question is why isn't everyone?

Personally, I hope it all ends just like the ending of "Fight Club".

Banks are coming down hard on people that pay their bills on time because they are scared of losing their jobs with the bank and want a pat on the bank for saving them money buy taking away people's credit. To do this when people are on disability and have had a death in the family is despicable. I am on prozac and trying to get back on my feet only to have BofA slap me down. I have had these cards for many years and have paid promptly. This was unwaranted.

When times are tough, that's when people need their credit cards the most to help them over the bumps. The cards I had were my most valued cards and BofA made them useless in one fell swoop. I would never open an account with them. My mother told me years ago that they were no good and she was right.

Interesting....you talk about "harrassment", I don't see any harassment. All I see is a sound business decision. Basic finance. The three C's of credit. Character (determined by credit report); capacity (ability to repay) and collateral. Bank's have the right to monitor a client's ability to continue to make their payments. I pray for you that you can live within your means and not rely on credit, I pray for you that you will have compassion for those who have to take the brundt of your anger when they tell you that you may be getting over extended. If you feel that the bank is treating you unfairly, apply for credit somewhere else. As for the tarp money. Banks were forced to take tarp money in an effort to stabilize the banking system and so that they continue to lend money wisely, not to continue to allow people to borrow money just because they need it. If the major banks go under your $$$'s are worthless. Banks did not "demand" the money and use it to buy competitors. They can't even pay it back until the government allows them to. Check your facts. I too am shocked; but I am shocked at how vicious some consumers are towards the banks and I am personally offended by your cruel remarks. We are not greedy leeches attacking people. They didn't demand that you pay your card in full, they are not calling you every day "harassing" you, the bank simply cut the amount of credit available to you to ensure that you have the ability to repay your debts. Credit cards are not designed to "help you over the rough spots when times are tough, that's what a savings account is for. That's one of the reasons America is in such dire straits today. No one saves, they rely on credit. Again, I pray for you and your family. I sympathize with you for your loss (my sister and father both died in the same year and I was devastated for quite some time), but I think your anger is misplaced. Next time you visit your local bank, look around you. Bankers are people too. They live in your community, they support your schools and businesss, they pay their taxes, and they have feelings and fears like everyone else. (Employees are not rewarded for taking credit away from the consumer; banks make their money extending credit as long as people can pay them back.)

There was tough but no love, in fact no feels whatsoever. The credit specialist I talked to was a calculator, she was determined not to fix my situation no matter what I said. I have always made my payments on time, they lost a check I had send them, they were the one's at fault, not me, yet I was the one being punished. It was just someone at the bank trying to save their job and score brownie points.

I give up, you aren't even willing to consider that you are wrong. Don't shoot the messenger. Banks have an obligation to their shareholders to lend responsibly. If you pay your bills today, that is no guarantee that you will continue to do so. You are not the only person having your card limit reduced. In today's economy, the odds of your defaulting have increased dramatically. Americans need to stop living on credit. This is the tough love part, You need to spend less or make more as banks get hit harder and harder with losses from well meaning individuals who can no longer make their payments. The TARP money has nothing to do with your credit card debt even if you think the banks are profiting from it. The banker had no personal vendetta against you. The person on the phone probably did not even have anything to do your limit reduction. Read the paper, all credit card carriers are reducing individual credit lines. I pray that you get better, I pray that you can handle your doctor and prescription bills but I don't pray that your credit line is restored. Why not complain about the high cost of your medical bills and the greedy leeches who are over charging you there and leave the poor bankers alone. They are getting beat up enough because greedy people bought homes they couldn't afford and want to blame the banks for that as well.

Theres two sides to this Mightymite is right in a way tough love is needed we was getting into a have now pay later society credit given out some cases of people taking on debts way exceeding their incomes and some people I wouldnt say greedy just not realizing what they were doing theres so many examples of different people some who just spend and dont care but others who do pay.There are some companies who are doing some nasty tatics maybe some of their staff are not trained there are some good caring staff out there and some not Ive had both ends.I was put in a situation a terrible situation I didnt see it coming but out of it Ive learnt.But mightymite is right about one thing we could not carry on with how we was going

Mightymite, I will first say to you that I have excellent credit, and don't owe a nickel to anyone. My home & car are paid for. All my bills are paid in full. Save your B*** for someone else. Twist your lies any way you please. However, the truth is that you and all other bank officers are THIEVES. However you rationalize, that TARP money you STOLE belongs to THE AMERICAN TAXPAYERS, not your bank, yet you blame the trouble on the borrower. "Poor Bankers" I can't believe you actually say that. neurman811, I can't agree with this name calling. I agree with your assessment of the people who run the banks, but as far as I can tell, mightymite just works for them.

Yes, the financiers have screwed us all while drinking their Champagne. They were if a far better position than the average borrower to know the (financial) score, but they didn't care and let their greed take us to our economic hell anyway. They took the TARP money and used it to buy more conpetitors and Congressmen. And they've no rational defense when they REFUSE TO TELL US what they did with the money.

But blame the game and those who create the rules, not the players.

And I'm sure we all want to keep the discussions civil around here.
