I put $40 dollars in my savings account, took the debit card from my SO, and I have a little over $200 in my checking, which is for my light bill, now just to stress over gas for the next two weeks. ugh!
I have $40 cash in hand, and $70 in food stamps (that will only last this week)
Has anyone quit drinking pop, or quit a habit to save money?
I am considering it, because I drink a lot of pop, I buy 2-12 packs per pay check, and then sometimes, I go to the store and buy one if im not at home.( I quit chewing tobacco to save money, back when I quit it was almost $4 now I hear its $6 to buy one can, holy cow,) but I thought about it, quit drinking pop, and I will save $40, a bottle of pop is about $1.25-$1.35, depending on where you buy it, if i buy one 20-oz daily, thats, $37.50 a month. And that is just for myself, that is not including the pop I buy for my SO, and my children. Besides that pop is bad for you. But like any addiction, am I really ready for that step.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmonĀ

just drinking water does not do it..but iced water is better...
One thing I have heard that might help you, is to shift to something else for 3 weeks, then switch to water. Apparently most habits are made in 4 weeks (body physiology or something) and switching to something like homemade iced tea (very very cheap) then water may just help you cut the soda habit.
Or switching to something like seltzer water, then plain water might still give you that fizziness for a while.
Hope you succeed! : )
the gas tank already at empty after 2 days, so I put ten in, and then my daughter (who deserves one treat for helping me all week) went to the movies with her church group this week, that was another 15.00. And our truck, needed gas, ugh, in less than 2 hrs I'm down to 200 in the bank, ten on hand, and 70 in food stamps, and $40 in the bank.
I'm just half venting and half recording my spending for the day. I still yet need to pay my light bill ugh. I wish money wouldnt talk to me no more, all it says is "bye bye"
I drink soda too much...I even buy prepared iced tea for my fridge...LOL spending it as a way of saying bye bye myself too...
A 24 box of Luisianne Family size teas bags is less than $2.00. Put 4 bags in to a gallon jar (glass or plastic) full of cold water. Set outside for 2-3 hours. The tea will brew, then take the bags out. I usually go thru a gallon of tea every 2 days, so that $2 box of tea lasts about 2 weeks. Pretty damn economical.
After pop I gave up junk food like chips, candy bars, chocolate bridge mix, stuff like that. It saved me almost $75 a month. So I think it is completely worth it to pay the bills, and not have a soda at night.
