Let me start by saying I am not in the legal field so take my thoughts with a grain of sand.
First stop paying your bills. It is a waste of money if you are going to file anyway. Take the phone off the hook or get a machine and dont worry about it. Next write down every bill you owe, company name, address, phone number, account number, amount owed. Medical bills, credit cards, car lones, house, everything.
Call you church and ask for a referal to a good lawyer, they may have a church member that can help, If not then just go through the phone book and call a few. If you have all your bills wrote down they can tell you pretty quick what to do and what their fee is. If you stop paying all your bills for a month maybe you can get the fee. But whatever you do go talk to someone sooner rather than later. You are not the first person in this situation and they may have some ideas for you.
You are in a tough spot and need some relief. I have family on a fixed income and it sucks. Very hard to make ends meet. Lots of working people are having problems so hang in there.
Just taking action might bring relief for you. You need to feel in control and these steps will put you on that path. Most of all HANG IN THERE and keep posting how you are doing and any questions....
