One couple who I admire a lot is my ex-brother-in-law and his wife. They got married when he was 18 and she was 17. They are approaching their 50th anniversary and she has never worked in a paying job for their whole marriage.
BUT she was always "working." She raised three kids and did everything she could to help save money. She planted a garden and canned the produce. She cut the kids' hair. She helped her husband, by mowing the lawn and shoveling the snow. She made it so that when he came home from work, he could rest. An amazing woman... I've always had the utmost respect for her.
On the other side of the coin is my ex-wife. She didn't work and had no qualms about spending money. I hated coming home from work because I always felt deeper in debt. I don't like picking on her... I'm just showing the differences in a working housewife and a wife.
Keeping a home running smoothly, is a wonderful gift for the person who is earning the wage... whether it is a man or a woman.
My Gran was a working Housewife, but she uses her work in the Farm we had to give her a sense of entitlement towards the home. She is codependent to the extreme. (My Paternal Line had men who got their way all the time and she thinks she has to be the same)
I haven't had a 'Job' in over six years, but during the time I learned new skills. I passed the driving test in July 2007 at the age of 28 and; though I've had mishaps in the past; my driving is relatively good. (no endorsements)
I have also developed a stronger Business acumen through the Entrepreneurial course in order to get my Creative Writing project of the ground, networking skills through contacting local people and negotiation skills through dealing with my Grandmother and Brother.
