Hello Board....I'm so glad I found a board helping with financial problems. This is an issue that is giving me much stress and anxiety. The last 5 years have been financially terrible for me and my wife. I quit a job that was interfering with my mental health and have tried to make ends meet since. I recently got a job that I'm waiting to start in a couple of weeks.
Are there any services for those of us with mental illness and financial difficulties that will provide a helpful, compassionate person to explain things in a very simple way? Just thinking about this stuff makes me start weeping like a child, and all that shame just comes rushing back.

Can you identify these rom-coms from just a screenshot from the middle of the films? This is a multiple choice quiz so even if you're not entirely sure you can always take a guess and at least have a 25% chance of getting it right anyway, so why not have a go?! https://www.buzzfeed.com/alysaurus688/rom-com-screenshot-trivia-quiz

I think Ramseysolutions.com would give you the tools you need. First, sit down with wife and write out a written budget. What are your monthly bills, what is the monthly income. What is the debt, listed out bill by bill. Doing a written monthly budget every month to spend every dollar on paper will help your anxiety. You may avoid doing this but that will increase the anxiety. Ask your wife to sit down with you and plan every dollar on paper. She gets input and you get input. Go down to the very basics, shelter, food, electricity, current medical costs, etc. Take the leftover money and figure out how to get the debt paid off, how much per month goes to each bill. Dave Ramsey says concentrate on making minimum payments to all of them but the smallest, and take every single extra penny to throw at the smallest. Get that one paid off and take that payment and throw it at the next debt. He calls it the debt snowball. You'll feed elation and self esteem as you pay this every month and as each one is killed. Eat at home, bring a sandwich to work, cut back everything that is not absolutely necessary. Put every extra dollar to your debt. Wife needs to be a partner, hold each other accountable to not spending on things not needed or going out to eat. This will give you both a purpose of working together with a plan. You will feel less anxiety with a purpose and a plan. I wish you the best. I know you can do this.
