This community is for people who are struggling to meet financial obligations of any kind. Financial challenges include everything from the day-to-day challenges of making ends meet to managing credit card debt to bankruptcy. Except for my holiday vacation in England, during the year I stay close to my apartment and watch my money.
This year I made a promise to myself to treat myself to a couple of small getaway weekends.
One of them will be in August to see my daughter and grandkids...
The other will be this weekend. Well actually Saturday night to Sunday noon. Not going anywhere special, but I am going away... about five miles outside my town to a Holiday Inn and pamper myself for a night.
You see where I'm at I don't have a bathtub... just a shower and boy do I miss having a bath... so that will be the highlight of my weekend... numerous baths... LOL...
I don't eat out much, so that night and next morning I will be eating out...
I don't have cable TV... I watch TV through rabbit ears or I stream shows on my PC... that night I'll be watching some shows I probably never heard of, laying in bed munching away, something I never do - eat in bed... it don't sound like much and in reality it probably isn't but man I am so looking forward to it.
Then on Sunday, I'll stop at Walmart and get some plants for my window garden and plant them when I get back here...

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon
Growing up, when my folks said we were going out to eat, it was an exciting adventure... now many people look at it as normal, like they are entitled to it.
When I got divorced I changed my habits, not just with money, but with everything.
I get up every weekday morning at 5 AM for work... by 5:10 my bed is made. Even before my first cup of coffee the bed is made.
Every evening, I come back to my apartment and have a homemade meal. Within a half hour of finishing, I'm in the kitchen doing dishes and cleaning the kitchen.
That is a normal day for me... so this weekend, will be like it was as a kid... an adventure... it is that life of humility and simplicity that the 12 Steps talk about... never take anything for granted and have an attitude of gratitude for those simple times...
And this weekend, I won't be making the bed or doing the dishes... pure paradise for this kid....
Sunday, I got a couple of tomato plants, a pepper plant, a cucumber, and some seeds for beets, radishes, and lettuce and planted my window garden...
All in all a nice getaway weekend...
