Hi everyone. Well, I am 59 years old, and have been unemployed since May, 2008. Unemployment and Cobra will be ending in about 3 months. I have breast cancer (and may be looking at a second mastectomy), lupus, fibromyalgia, and a brain injury I got from a serious fall in May. Most of my unemployment goes to Cobra, since I really my medical benefits. I have tried to send everyone as much as I can each month. I just got a letter from the town saying that because I haven't paid all my taxes, my house will be up for auction on Sept. 1. I had spoken to them last fall, and they said that if I send what I can each month, nothing would happen. Has anyone been in this position? After my husband left, I worked really hard to pay off my house, because it was all my kids and I had. I have lived here 33 years. And now it will be acutioned off for the amount of my taxes. It doesn't seem right. Of course, nothing in my life has seemed right lately. Anyway, thanks for listening to me. God Bless!

Also, are there any organizations or churches in your area that could help you? Out here the best time to get help from agencies is usually around the 1st of the month since their emergency funds tend to run out by the 3rd week of the month.
If there aren't any agencies in your area that could provide you with temporary assistance could a non-profit debt consolidation company help you?
If not, would your family and/or friends be able to help you with your taxes? If they can't help you would the city be willing to negotiate a payment plan so that they won't auction off your house?
