I'm pissed off. Our rental application was denied and it sounds like it was because of my credit score. My husband's is pretty damn good right now. He sold our house last year and just paid off a credit card.
Now for one I don't understand why they need to run my credit in the first place....I don't even have an income! It's also irritating because each place you go to asks for an application fee for each person over 18, they run $40- $50, that's for EACH! How can anyone afford to even look for housing??
I'm just sad because it feels like this bad credit and debt are just going to follow me around for the rest of my life like a dark cloud. No matter what other good is happening to me. Not a positive outlook, I know, and I'm going to try and stop thinking that way right now. Just had to vent!

Im not a fan of credit scoring..its someone again who is making money from someone..having a perfect credit score does not make someone an angel..the people who knocked me who didnt pay money they owed..probably look like they have the perfect credit score..so the question does it make them better than myself..I do understand if I was renting out a house you would want to have knowledge the people are going to pay.. people have many different scenerios which credit scores have damaging effects on peoples lives..I can see youre frustration

I, too, have poor credit. It is something that I have struggled with over the past few years. Finally I found a landlord that doesn't do credit checks but takes a person on their ability to pay and I have lived in this location for over 3 years. it is clean and safe and meets my needs although it is not my preference for a place to live it is a result of the consequences of the way I have chosen to live or the way I have chosen to spend my money. Annually, I obtain my free credit report from all three major credit bureaus plus from a 4th which is called Chex. there are other credit bureaus that are less known than the three major ones. So, overtime my credit is slowly improving. At one time about 7 years ago I had a 300 credit score and today my credit score is about 560. It takes time but it is doable.

Yes, it is damaging JokeyJ. It is the bane of my existence. My husband doesn't even Ike to acknowledge my debts, which I understand as they were from before we met and has nothing to do with him. But at the same time, he is the sole money maker of the household and I am a stay at home mom. Even if I were to get a job I don't think we could afford day care. But one day I will start working again, when the youngest gets old enough to go to school.
Mybestself, I'm glad you were able to pull your self up and out of the mire! It seems that where I I've the rental policies are getting stricter by the day so I'm not sure if there are any who do not do credit checks but that would sure be nice!
