Good morning! Up at oh-to-heck-with-it early again, but cats are bcuddling me on the couch, so not all bad.
Today, th eDMV. Ugh. Awful place, but... We'll manage.
Hubby bought an insert for our sliding door. It has a pet door built into it. Unfortunately, we have to train the cats. OK, I have to. And Installation? Me. And... Uh... Can't we just get up and open the dang door to the catio porch?

So what's to win today?
Today also marks the victory of colonial American forces under George Washington at Yorktown, in 1781. It's considered the last major battle of the Revolutionary War, and the British forces were led by Lord Cornwallis. Who, really, didn't win anything, but it's all in where you stand? Uh... Never mind.
In 1989, since things weren't wacky enough in the then-USSR, Soviet news agency Tass (the official voice of the Soviet leadership) released a story saying that a UFO had been sighted, as well as a trio of aliens. Insert your own jokes here if you're old enough to remember thesse things. If not, move along...
Today in Petersburg VA, but in 1946, the first ever electric blanket went on sale. Ironic, given the climate in Virginia is pretty warm. Especially in Petersburg, which is in the eatsern part of the state. That is, the warmest part. (So is Yorktown. Yeah. Not much happens in my patch. Or ever did. Kinda nice, really...)
Today in 1930, the first transcontinental flight solo by a woman in the US was completed by aviator Laura Ingalls (related as a cousin of some kind to the Little House Laura Ingalls). Obvs, adventure ran in th eDNA.

Today... Let's just win our own little fights. To stay calm. To feel peaceful. To not scream obscenities at the world. To win the moments that make a life a little better. Like, y'know, lemon cupcakes! (Yes, I made some.)
Off to braekfast (not cupcakes, alas) and maybe a nap after. :-)
Hugs to all, and may your day be3 a victory for you!

We're all troubled.WSo, to remind ourselves we're not at rock bottom (this is a reverse optimism thing I learned as a kid):We are not living on the island of Krakatoa when the volcano goes boom!Yeah, okay, that sucks.***Toay in 1942, Pierre Laval announced that the way to free France was for Germany to win WW2. Pierre did not win a lot of friends. When the war ended, quite quickly he was tried...

Another day, another ouchie? My bruised achilles tendon (don't ask) makes my foot numb. Wonky on meds, whacked it.Now, as to fibro:A lot of reports are going around some parts of social media that fibro (and dang near anything else) are caused by post-Covid, post-flu, post-vaccinations, post-pick-something.1. Your risk of death or serious complications beyond "ow, that shot hurt!" are typically...
I'm not sure I'm winning anything today. I woke up a little early too because my back is even worse than yesterday. I did get some cuddles from the cats and Miki but unfortunately they didn't fix my back pain. I was hoping to wait until next week to get to the doctor but I don't think that will happen. I'll have to call them this morning (didn't have time yesterday, we were really busy) and see if I can get in tomorrow morning. Although I did just get a text from my sister saying she got pissed at my dad and now neither of our parents are talking to her..I'm ordering rx dog food for them from work to save them like $30/bag, so I'm in their good graces for the moment. So I guess that's a minor win. All I really want right now is sleep and to not have to think about whether every little movement is going to hurt like hell...it's going to be a long day
Leo, sorry to hear your sleep was so difficult. I agree that kitty cuddles make most things worth while.
Miki, hope you can get your doctor's appointment! I live with a bad back, so I empathize with how you are feeling.
Yesterday was a good day. Didn't do a whole lot other than putzing around the house and going to mom's. She wants me to come over again today, so I'll stop by for a couple of hours in the afternoon. I have the gym today and really want to get back up to 30 minutes on the bike. Wish me luck!
Hoping everyone has a good day!
Leo, sorry you were up so early. Lemon cupcakes sound good though.
Miki, sorry about your back. Hope you feel better soon.
Pained, yay for you and sticking with your gym time.
I have to be brief.....so much to do. We're having some major house issues--water damage in the bathroom = I don't want to think about it, but it's likely going to need to be redone. Pain levels very high still, stress levels astronomical. I just want to be done. I need a break, and there's none in sight.
Happy thought is seeing a friend and going to one of my favorite restaurants tonight.
Wish you all a great day.
I slept horrible between a stomach that had no intention on behaving and pain throughout my entire body so bad I was ready to cry. I gave up, got up and took meds at 6:30. The new med helps a ton and is letting me drop having to take the opioid and drop my lyrica a dose but when I take it at full strength i get anxious. Dont need that either. I'm still missing Maggie so much; had another breakdown last night sobbing.
Miki I'm sorry to hear your back is giving you so much trouble. I hope that the doctors can get you in soon.
Good luck PainedOne on reaching your 30 minute goal today. Also hope you ha e a good visit with Mom.
Sending hugs to all and shouting out to Twin, Fantod, Blue.
Leo, I hope you like the door and it's not to hard to train the cats. I could go for a cupcake right about now. I'm telling you if my stomach wasn't this bad I would be eating it for breakfast. :-)
Miki, I'm sorry your sister is having problems with your parents today. I hope you are able to stay out of it and this doesn't dramatize your life. Have a good day at work.
Pained, good luck at the gym, you can do it. Have fun with your mom.
ZK, enjoy dinner with your friend. I"m jealous. :-)
Maynard, I'm sorry your stomach is giving you fits. I hope you are able to stay awake at work today and that your stomach calms down. Mine has been hurting since last night myself. It makes life that much harder. I just wish if I had to be in pain, that at least my stomach would be okay and let me eat whatever I want. It gets so old.
I'm in way too much pain today. I feel like I can shut my eyes and be asleep in seconds. Of course, last night I couldn't get to sleep or stay asleep. Sitting at a computer all day is going to be torture.
I hope everyone has a good day.
Leo, it'll probably be easy to train the cats because their still young. When we got a cat door for our catio 2 yrs ago, we were not able to train any of the cats to use it I think because they're already too old. Especially Silver because he was 14 at the time. Poor thing just sat there with his face up against it for hours hoping someone would "open" it for him. We had to remove the flap and just leave an open hole for them LOL. I'm not a fan of lemon flavored pastries (for some reason it reminds me of air fresheners) but I'm sure your cupcakes are delicious.
Are rings under your eyes a fationable thing yet? No? Welp, not only did the antibiotics leave me a screwed up stomach, but it also gave me a yeast infection. I have acupuncture and chiro today. I also have a rash around my wrist from picking mangoes a week ago and the sap dripping down my hand. Mango sap contains traces of poison ivy. I'm applying benedryl every day but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Back in a sec.
