I'm seeing rheumatology. Mainly because I had ANA test come back positive and because of all the symptoms I was complaining of. So they had to rule out autoimmune diseases.

I think it should be neurology but neurologists don't seem interested. Rheumys seem to be more into it, but not all of them are on board.

Disbelievers abound.

I was wondering the same thing Narey. Since a virus is involved, shouldnt we be seeing Infectious Disease Specialists. In the future, wont we need them to administer treatment protocols? I was diagnosed by an Internist and Rheumy. I have an appt this week and Im going to ask him about that. I would think that the Infectious Disease Specialist would be the best doctor for treatment since anti-retrovirals would be involved.

I went to the Fibromyalgia & Fatigue Center but they are expensive. I'm going back as I now know what caused my FM. I'll be doing IVs and chelating hopefully.

Also I read that CFIDS is related to a virus. I think FM has a different etiology. Mine is definitely not a virus it's a toxic heavy metal found in the contrast used for MRIs. That heavy metal is gadolinium. I saw a rheumatologist this week for the first time.

I think ESPECIALLY in the future ... they will just HAVE to come to terms that it IS viral... Fibro/CFS
Its only going to involve more and more people. Hopefully some day they will decide to believe us and find that its "REAL" and it wont be too soon.

I see a rheumy and my PCP.....PCP will do some for the fibro, but defers to the rheumy for med changes......I also saw an endocrinologist and neurologist when searching for a diagnosis, and see a new neurologist now for the migraines.

JulieAnne, is the test for gadolinium specialized to that particular Fibro center?

I was dx'd by an RA, but prefer to have my PCP as the doctor treating me. He has known me as a patient for over 20 years. I like this because he has seen me decline and knows my health history. So I have the RA, chiropractor,and physical therapist all send their notes to him so that he has a full picture.

I see a rheumy and she is pretty enthusiastic about treating me. When she diagnosed me, I offered to go to a 'specialist' because I had no idea what I was talking about. When I see her in a couple of weeks, I'll be asking her about all of these new developments.

My Rheumy and my PCP work very closely together...i think that's important.

One who is compassionate, caring and listens. That's my criteria....

after seeing a Chrioprator for 2yrs after a job injury he sent me to a lawyer lol that sent me to my current DOC Dr. Barker MD head of Phyical Rehabilation Dept @ Wyandotte Hospital of Michigan...i have gone to other Docs you all have named! But this one helps me cope the most & never says no to any treatment he is willing to learn & help me live the best life i can! i have been fired lol from other Doc cuz I always want them to concure w/Dr barker he also manage my pain more then i want too! w/all the horro story'sf anyone goin w/out pain management is unbeleivable! again i have had Docs think i was Pain med seekin & said they would not give me meds! I just wanted amny new research/meds not specific pain/narcotic=Dr B gives anything i want/need! He did not want me to get the surgerys i just had! but i had to listen to other Docs! I have not disguised the Virus theroy w/Dr B but did notice i felt better after a dentist visit=i have to have Antibotic/Virus meds4hrs before visit=i have MPV/virus i break out around mouth only on Dental visits=they think iam allergic to gloves or just rubbing of suction hose!or a boyfriend w/a beard first 1wk of kissin! lol
i do not fool around any more just stick w/ DR B he is fightin for me to get SS & got me state disabilty & a chore worker!

I go to my GP for treating my fibro. I was diagnosed by a Rheumie, or at least I got a second opinion for it.
